Emily Wilson, a lovely USA based customer, came into my orbit when she purchased her first pair of Stretch Leather Pants in 2021. I was instantly inspired by Emily’s style thanks to the diary of impeccable outfits she shares via her Instagram page @doitallin_cuteshoes. Over the years Emily has independently added 3 more items to her collection of OS pieces. I reached out to see if she would be happy to answer some questions, so we could learn a little more about her story and for some advice about how to capture her inspiring style.
 

I’m forever grateful to connect with women both to close to home, and from afar who reach out and share their take on my designs via messages and photos. It always has and always will be the most fulfilling part of my creative process. I hope you enjoy getting to know Emily. 

COULD YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF?

I’m a 40-something with a passion for fashion! I have spent my adult life in the Boston area of the US and live outside the city with my husband and 6-year old daughter. I work in the investment business - I am a natural (possibly obsessive) problem-solver and get bored easily so I like staying busy with the intellectual stimulation of my career.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?

I love that fashion lets me be who I am that day or in that era of my life. My style has changed a lot over the years - I’ve done all black goth, preppy, and power businesswoman. My current era is fashion-forward and pushes the limits of what people expect from a suburban working mother! I have really embraced looser fits and my looks range from edgy to classic to boho, depending on my mood. I’m leaning into neutral tones so that I can mix and match a lot.

YOU OWN THE BOYFRIEND AND JOGGER; COULD YOU PLEASE TELL US HOW YOU WEAR THESE AND HOW THEY WORK IN YOUR WARDROBE? 

Both of these are slimmer fitting pants, so I like to balance them with more relaxed tops. In the winter I really like a front-tucked sweater with some rich texture to it and a chunky shoe like a loafer or high-top sneaker. In warmer weather I love pairing with an oversized graphic tee and flat sandals. For the office I dress them up with an oversized collared shirt and pumps. 

 

WHERE DOES YOUR STYLE INSPIRATION COME FROM?

I’m all about letting the instagram influencers influence me! It’s like hanging out with the most global and fashionable group of girlfriends!  discovered Olivia Sheed via LucysWhims, who is one of my favourite follows. I’ve also been loving some of the European influencers, who rock a lot of oversized layers. And Shop.with.Caroline has gotten me wearing some serious necklace stacks recently.
 
IF SOMEONE WAS WEIGHING UP THE BOYFRIEND OR JOGGER, WHICH STYLE WOULD YOU RECOMMEND STARTING WITH? 

I would suggest the jogger - it gives you the most options. You can wear higher on the waist for a slim fit and with longer tops you can treat them like leggings. You can also slouch them to get the drop-crotch look of the boyfriend style. And not that you asked, but I’d start with classic black!  

WHAT’S ON YOUR SHOPPING LIST?

I share a wishlist on IG every month or two because I’m a big online shopper and I’ve always got my eye on something new. There are always multiple pairs of shoes on my list - they are my weakness! Right now I’m lusting after a pair of Stella McCartney wedges while also refusing to pay full price
